Future Focused Footprint
Mindful of our impact on the environments in which we work with our clients and the communities we live in, we have taken an important step in offsetting our office and depot’s electricity consumption.
After consultation with the leadership team, managers and staff and the industry, it became evident that reducing our environmental impact was a priority for our people, our business, our clients and their communities.
Through partnering with environmental not-for-profit carbon offset provider Greenfleet, we have now purchased 215 tonnes of carbon offsets to capture carbon emissions and help fight the impacts of climate change.
This marks a considerable step in our journey towards becoming more sustainable and represents the equivalent of our electricity bills for each and every one of our offices and depots across Australia.
The support will help Greenfleet restore native forests and ecosystems, provide crucial habitat for endangered wildlife, help counter the devasting impact of the bushfires, and reduce the impacts of climate change. Greenfleet will plant enough biodiverse native trees on behalf of UMS to offset these emissions.
“Delivering environmentally sustainable, safe and trusted outcomes for our clients is of upmost importance to us at UMS and we are proud to be taking action together,” said UMS CEO, Demara Jackson.
This marks one of the many steps that UMS is taking towards continuous environmental improvement and implementation of sustainable practices. Find out more about UMS’ stance on environmental sustainability in this report.
