Corporate Social Responsibility
At UMS, we take pride in our contribution to improving our local community through our Corporate Social Responsibility strategies. As an organisation we have a strong history of collaborating with members of our communities and actively contributing to local projects and events. We are consistently involved in our local areas to improve social and environmental outcomes.
Internally, UMS look to increase the diversity and strength of our organisation and provide support and ongoing development to our staff. We value our role in the community that we work within and have a number of ongoing initiatives that we are proud to be a part of.
Located just outside of Melbourne, Caitlin’s Retreat is a beautiful property designed to offer families with special needs children a getaway to enjoy some quality time. It provides an opportunity for families to connect with their surroundings without facing barriers to accessibility and access to services. In 2019, UMS provided maintenance services to rectify safety issues relating to the property’s damaged eaves, downpipes and deck in addition to painting services and have remained proud contributors for over ten years.
Celebrated annually on August 30, Melbourne Day marks the anniversary of the founding of Melbourne with events including live music and a flag raising celebration. UMS Chairman and Owner, Campbell Walker, is delighted to be Chair of the Melbourne Day committee.
Like Melbourne, UMS are proud of their history and understand the need to celebrate our past and remain actively involved in initiatives designed to celebrate the city’s vibrant history.
The Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to reducing the impact of road trauma by promoting the prevention of road safety related incidents. UMS Chairman and Owner, Campbell Walker, is an involved member of the Board of the ARSF and is a consistent contributor to the foundation to help facilitate efforts to decrease the existence of road trauma on Australian roads.
UMS has held the Hobsons Bay Roadside Mowing & Garden Maintenance contract with Hobson’s Bay since 2015. Our partnership-driven mindset outlined an opportunity to collaborate with the Working for Victoria team through their latest project to improve local facilities. UMS provided a skilled painter to assist with the work being done and proudly contributed to the success of the project that has made a monumental difference to the local community. Altona Yacht Club was one local building that has been given a new lease on life, however the impact that UMS’s contribution had to the project on the people behind it is just as beneficial.
