UMS is pleased to report that Daniel Sacco, Account Manager, was invited by Parks and Leisure Australia (PLA) VIC/TAS to deliver a presentation on sports field maintenance at the Sports Surfaces Seminar. This one-day seminar is designed for local government staff responsible for the planning, allocation, programming and design of sports surfaces. As a thought leader in the sports turf management sector, Mr Sacco shared his valuable knowledge and insights on how “Good maintenance regimes are critical for retaining quality and performance”. Mr Sacco’s presentation was well-received, and we have heard great feedback from PLA.
Mr Sacco’s maintenance presentation focused on how to get the best out of sports field surfaces at a practical and operational level. The topics included annual turf maintenance program (ATMP), typical maintenance requirements, irrigation, renovations, season change over, and quality and performance. Mr Sacco’s key message is the importance of fostering two-way communication between the sports field allocation staff and the outdoor workers, so the allocation staff will better appreciate the challenges and pressures faced in the field.
Richard Simon, Executive Officer at PLA Vic/Tas Region, has passed on positive feedback from Kim White, Senior Recreational Planner at Warrnambool City Council: “I drove up last night to attend today, and I can honestly say that I could leave now and would be satisfied with the value of the seminar having listened and learned so much from the SPORTENG presentation and the UMS presentation alone.”
With over 17 years of experience, Mr Sacco’s skills and experience has not only been a great asset to UMS but also to the sports turf management sector. In September 2018, Mr Sacco was appointed to join the Sports Turf Association Victoria (STA) Committee. UMS is very proud of Mr Sacco’s achievement as he continues to share his expertise of best practice sports turf maintenance to members within the industry.
